Waiting for Baby…

Well, it’s official… I’m once again on a brief hiatus from music (this time much shorter than the last few hiatuses, when I was waiting for permission to work, which took nearly a year… and when we were waiting for gigs to pick up after Covid, which sadly went over a year – this time it should only be about a month or so, hopefully, if all goes well).

Dave Hannon and I have decided to take 2 or so weeks off before Baby Girl is due – just in case she decides to come a little early. I’d hate to have to cancel a gig because I went into labour – or even worse, have Dave out at a show himself and not make it to the labour in time (it’s a lot of gear to pack up!). We are also taking the 2 weeks after Baby Girl is due off, just in case she’s late (she is a girl, afterall).

With all that said, Dave will return to gigs as soon as baby is here (and will be available for pickup gigs/cancellations in September, if baby has arrived already). Though I have booked some shows in October, I’m cautious about booking anything solo too soon. We don’t know how this whole “having a baby” thing is going to go – as much as I like to think of myself as Wonder Woman, I probably should still wait and see how I feel.

After playing a bunch of shows this summer as a duo (mostly because I don’t want to have to do all that heavy lifting with this belly), which we have absolutely enjoyed, we will be doing a lot more solo booking in the fall… we will have to be each other’s babysitter until we are comfortable enough to have someone else watch her. Baby steps, right?

In any event, we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us throughout our summer gigs. We have had an incredible time playing music for you. I literally had a moment earlier today where I thought to myself “I can’t believe that I get to do this for a living!”

I cannot wait to play for you again soon!
