Well, I guess it’s about time for an update, don’t you think?

Today is officially 6 weeks since I fell and broke my elbow. I had a follow-up appointment with the orthopaedic specialist on Monday (complete with new x-rays) and survey says: It’s still broken and it’s normal to still hurt. Unbeknownst to me, bones take a full 3 months before they are considered “healed”. With that said, it could be at least 6 months to a year before I start feeling something resembling “normal”… ugh, I’m not the best at practising patience.

With that said, I am back playing a little guitar here and there. I even have some upcoming shows that I’m really looking forward to (see below). The hardest part about this injury is that I was “out of commission” just long enough that I lost the badass callouses I had developed from playing 4-5 hours per day prior to the injury… But I’m working on getting those back! I’m remembering what it was like back when I was a beginner. I have a lot more appreciation for my persistence back then!

In November, Dave Hannon and I celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we eloped to San Francisco and toured the city in a limo, taking photographs all over town in our wedding attire. It was such an incredibly fun day. We cannot wait until we can go back for another visit. Here are some shots from that amazing day (all photos by Lancaster Photography):

One of the reasons why we decided on San Francisco was because we had already vacationed there a year prior and had an awesome time. It was one of our only vacations we got to spend together prior to getting married (due to long distance and schedules). While on that trip, I played the Hotel Utah open mic… it’s such a historic venue and so many legends have played there. It was an honour to step foot on that stage.
