September 2018 Newsletter

So…. I have news!

It’s a bit of a big announcement of sorts:

I was approved for my K1 Visa to move to the US and marry my love, Dave Hannon!

With the news of my relocation also comes the news that for the foreseeable future I will officially be on a musical hiatus, while waiting for paperwork to finalize. It’s sad, but it will only be temporary – and it is SO worth the wait!

My cat, Aria, and I officially moved to Tacoma, Washington, on September 15, 2018, and we couldn’t be happier (now, if only I could find what I’m looking for amongst the sea of boxes!).

I can’t wait until I get the green light that I can start booking shows myself. In the meantime, I will be woodshedding – working on covers and new originals and playing a whole lot of open mics – and unpacking, organizing, and resting (who would’ve thought that 3.5 years of an international long-distance relationship could really take a toll!)

A couple years ago, I developed the Facebook page, Tacoma Open Mics and Jams, as a way of listing all of the open mics within the Tacoma area. It was a completely selfish endeavour at first. I wanted to know where I could play, and when. As it turns out, it has been a great resource for the music community and the page continues to grow.

I love the music scene here in Tacoma – everyone is so incredibly talented, positive and supportive. I’m looking forward to one day being a part of it.

To everyone in Victoria (as well as Vancouver Island, and all over Canada) – thank you so much for your love and support over the years. I could not be where I am, or who I am, without you. I look forward to returning home for visits and musical performances, once I’m allowed to travel again. I will miss all of you very much.

My last show in Canada was a Green Day Tribute show in Nanaimo on September 14, 2018 (yes, I played a gig the night before I moved!). Here’s a video of my cover of She, from a beach jam session I did in August…
